About the Osteoporosis Program

Osteoporosis Program team

The University Health Network Osteoporosis Program is a joint program of University Health Network and Mount Sinai Hospital, consisting of physicians, nurses, researchers, and students.  Over 3000 patients pass through our clinic doors each year.  Our services include consultative and diagnostic services, bone building and life-saving osteoporosis and post hip fracture therapies, and vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty for the treatment of vertebral fractures.  Our staff is committed to providing excellent care for individuals with osteoporosis, and equipping them with the most up-to-date information on the prevention and treatment of this potentially crippling disease.

There are three major components to the Osteoporosis Program:

Our Mission

Currently, almost 2 million Canadians suffer from osteoporosis.  By 2016, this number is expected to rise to 6.9 million.  Osteoporosis is a major public health issue, and our mission is to develop a world-class osteoporosis program at UHN.

In fulfilling our mission, we aim to: educate individuals and health care practitioners about the risk factors associated with osteoporosis; assist individuals diagnosed with osteoporosis in managing their disease; and continue investing in innovative research investigating the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis.
