Osteoporosis Program - Medical Trainees
As part of the Program’s mandate of excellence in teaching, physicians with the Osteoporosis Program regularly mentor and train medical students and residents. Our aim is to provide medical trainees of all levels with an improved understanding of the evidence-based assessment of patients at risk for osteoporotic fractures and the spectrum of available treatment options.
In an effort to meet the diverse needs of our students, we have developed a unique and innovative online interactive educational tool in partnership with the Biomedical Communications program at the University of Toronto. This tool provides medical trainees with varying clinical experience and educational backgrounds a chance to enhance their understanding of osteoporosis and its management. Students can review concepts at an appropriate level prior to attending the clinic, as well as follow up on questions arising from patient encounters.
We are continually developing and improving the online learning modules and hope to eventually provide educational materials that can also be used by nursing and allied health professionals, family practitioners, and surgeons.
