UHN Homepage

NurseDuring your Pre-admission visit, you will initially be seen by the clerical staff who will take information related to your admission, such as your health insurance and demographic data. A patient passport will assist you in organizing all your visits. A Registered Nurse (RN) will then see you.

The registered nurse will conduct an interview to obtain your medical history. This information will be entered into a database, which is utilized by your health care team. Social or health issues such as high blood pressure, diabetes, chest pain, or lack of help at home would be communicated to the multidisciplinary team for further assessment, as necessary.

The clinic nurses will provide you with information regarding your care before and after surgery, including preparation for your stay in hospital, information on medications to take or not to take on the morning of your surgery, an overview of the surgical procedure, orientation to the unit and plans for your discharge.
